INTEGRITY - God is just and true!

We are loving this song at the moment while we think about what integrity really means...
Here is another one!

Chirpy Chick or Glum Bug? It's our choice.

The prodigal son made a lot of bad choices but the older son was Glum Bug and it stopped him from joining in on the party. Being Glum Bug can stop us from enjoying good things.
Glum Bug focusses on the PROBLEM.

*(Nice acting Ash and Nathan)

Chirpy Chick focusses on the SOLUTION or another positive.
Her wing is broken but she thinks, 'at least I still have one wing. Some people don't even have wings!'
At school we can be Glum Bug or Chirpy Chick. It is our choice.

Our Very Own Author!

This boy is amazing! We totally recognise and love his creative talent. Below is the second book this wonderful author has written. The photos do not do it justice. The words and the pictures work together beautifully to tell the story in such a clever way.
Our class (including the teacher) got super excited he had created a new story for us to read because we adored the first one so much.
The only question is... where do we buy a copy?
*Click on the photos to make them larger

You had everyone's attention with a worm that gets up to mischief!
What a clever illustration. There is just a hint of the danger to come in the bottom corner of the right hand page. You haven't given everything away. You have left the reader with things to figure out and discover. Reader's love to figure out the clues writers and illustrators leave. It makes them feel good when they notice.

Talented writer's 'show not tell'. You let us know the worm has been squashed, not told us. That is a far more interesting way for the reader to find that out.

Ha, ha, hilarious ending. Such a perfect way to finish and tie the story together.
I laughed so hard!
We love, love, love the pop outs you create. You really know how to entertain a reader!!! 👍

People Who Help :)

Mrs Elliot came to visit us in her ambulance. She is training to be a paramedic. Shad put it perfectly in his story when he wrote, "Her work car is so cool!"

Mrs Elliot talked to us about the equipment they carry in the ambulance. She is showing us the defibrillator.

Shad got his heart checked! His heart beat was very healthy. 💓

James listened to Mrs Elliot's heart with a stethoscope.

Mrs Elliot's big bag has everything...
...even a sick bag
This is the bleeding pocket.

We know all about plasters but inside the bleeding pocket was something new to us. It is called a tourniquet. They use this most often with the army to stop bleeding when people are a long way away from a hospital.

We got to walk through the ambulance.

We are SUPER glad there are people like Mrs Elliot to help us when we are really sick or injured! 😊👍

We're going on a worm hunt and we're going to catch a big one!

In our big book this week all Hetty Hacket wanted was a farm with animals that were quiet. She tried having different farm animals on her farm but each kind made a racket all day... and all night! Finally, she had had enough so she had a worm farm.

We went on a worm hunt so we could write about these wiggly squiggly creatures!

We found long thin slimy ones, big fat juicy ones, incy wincy squemmy weemy worms. See how they wiggle and squirm!

We hope to share some of our stories with you once they are finished!

Memory Verse: Week 5, Term 1

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23

Here is a photo of our devotion today.

Our tree is planted in what we need to grow good fruit. The 9 fruits are the fruits of the spirit!

A song to help us learn our verse...

B is the Best!

On Fridays we do all sorts of things with our sound of the week. Here is what we did for 'b'

Friday Poem: Betty Botter - A Tongue Twister
We practised our tall lower case b's. Terrific letter height Xin Yun and Eric! We sounded out and wrote words with the 'b' sound.

Our big book this week was called Mr Bitter's Butter. Poor Mr Bitter had no butter for his best baked bread so we made him some. We hoped it wouldn't be bitter butter, but better butter than Betty Botter's butter.

We brainstormed what is in butter we thought maybe eggs, milk, sugar, flour and water. It turns out all you need is CREAM!

We all had a go beating the cream. The cream was very thin and runny to start with. We had to beat the cream really fast to cause the change we wanted!

The more we beat the cream the thicker it became!
Eventually, the cream started to separate and we could see a liquid (buttermilk) and a solid (butter). This happened more and more until we could see a whole lot of solid and a whole lot of liquid. The solid got harder as the liquid separated from it.

This is the solids we took out of the buttermilk.

Then we wrapped it up in a tea towel and squeezed it until there was no more liquid coming out of it. Ta-da! We had made butter! It was perfect the our best baked bread. Yum!
Everybody knows the best way to eat bread and butter is under bubbles!
