March Calendar Challenge

Congratulation entrants!

Our March Calendar Challenge animal is a Red-eyed Tree Frog! They are found in tropical lowlands from southern Mexico, throughout Central America, and in northern South America. Nocturnal carnivores, they hide in the rain forest canopy and ambush crickets, flies, and moths with their long, sticky tongues. Red-eyed tree frogs are not endangered. Phew!

Due to the lockdown, apologies to the three entries at school safely in my drawer. You all got the challenge correct though! Everyone's prizes are waiting for you on our return to school. Yipee! 
BIG up's to Abigail whose entry was in the drawer but decided, even though she did not have to, to do her challenge again. Your second attempt is definately more creative - so totally worth it Abigail! I love it. 
👍 Another special mention to a few who resubmitted until they got it right. Thumbs up and high five for your resilience and perserverance. ✋ Respect! You are awesome!!

"Bradley loved playing outside the other day, experimenting with his little people to see what would float and what would sink. He also enjoyed seeing how many people could fit in the boat. We also got the food colouring out and tried mixing different colours together to see what they would make."














"Bradley's story today: If I was little I would make a leaf boat. Under the water I will see fish."

Sione's handsome handwriting

I am impressed with your handwriting effort for the letter H Sione! Like in class, I have highlighted your best capital H and your best lower case h with 'going for gold'. They just happen to be beside each other. I really like them! I wonder which ones you would have chosen. The reasons I chose the H's I did are...

• both H's are tall
• they sit on the line
• the tall sticks are quite straight
• the tunnel on the lower case h has a smooth curve
• the capital H is just the right width (I say the rugby goal posts are the right amount apart for the kick)
• the tunnel on your lower case h is short, it hits the middle but no higher

James' Autumn Learning

"We did some autumn reading (Stickman) and craft activities this morning. At one stage, when we were looking at our leaves, my mum asked me what differences I noticed. I said that one was very shiny and then Mum said that it is also quite glossy. I said, “Mum those words are synonyms!" We made a cool giant tree for our leaves. I measured the tree and it was 232cm tall. We looked up easy ideas for drawing owls and I drew my own owl for our giant tree." By James 🌲🌿🍂🍁

One Friday night in the holidays, my family had a sleep over in the lounge. First we watched a movie. Then we played a question game before we went to bed. In the morning, we had French toast and hot chocolates for breakfast. We watched another movie called 'The Sound of Music'. In the movie, there was a bad army. They tried to make a man join them but he didn't. One of the girls was very good at singing. It was my first time watching the movie and I liked it.

Freddie Frog update

Wow kids! Look at how Freddie Frog has grown!

Freedie used to be 4cm tall before we put him in the water. You can see his original size on the paper where we drew around him and then measured his height. Look at him now in comparison!

Freedie is still in our class sitting out of the water. He might get a bit bored by himself. Why don't you write him some subtraction or addition stories about his friendly friends, like we did in class, in the comments section below for him to read and solve while we are away!
