Master Builders

Building starts with /b/! Here is our Week 2 Learning from home...

"Morning A5

I built a beam and bar with my Dad. He's a builder. Dad said he's sick of building houses, so we built something else.

Here are some pictures. I got to use his tools and help him measure things. He said, "Mila can you count how many feet this is using my feet?" I counted 13 feet."

Here is Aeren contructing. The video is his completed building. He drew a house with shapes and wrote a story about his dream home.

Sovereign's story about her 'not normal' home

"This is the plan of my house. I have made a list of the items in each room and made a note big which is biggest and smallest. I have also made my own house 😁" By Blake

"Here is the house I built for my toys. The big box has a TV on the wall that Doggy can watch from his bed. The little house is a guest room. It has a sliding, changing colour wall." By Charlie

"I used my tape measure to measure the width of different pieces of furniture. We talked about which things were biggest, smallest, etc. It was hard to tell the different sizes just by looking at the list, so we decided to put the information on a graph. I have marked the biggest, smallest and medium items."

Noah's House Plan
"Today I had fun doing part of my Buildings project. I had expert relief teachers today. My Grandpa and Grandma took me for Building and Baking lessons. With the help of Grandpa I drew my house from a picture we had of it, using my ruler." By Noah

I John 4:7 Let us love one another

By Sione
I pray that with God's help, we are all able to live out 1 John 4:7 this week. Thank you God that you loved us first and for your neverending, never giving up love for us today. You have made a great poster to help remind us of this Mikaylah.

Ryder kicks off our Buildings, Houses and Rooms Learning

"I have created a house out of recycling. I have also made this puzzle by myself! I have been doing lots of learning from home. I liked your rat story Mrs Forrest. I built a mouse trap and I built a stand out of wood to hold my Iron Man toy." Ryder

Welcome to Week 2 of Distance Learning

Sound of the week: /b/

A 'b' goes the way we read and write!

"I have found a few items around the house that start with the sound /b/. I challenge my classmates to list all the items that I found." Blake

Those lower case B's are brilliant Mikaylah!

Brilliant /b/ work Sovereign! I like how you labelled your sound hunt. I have highlighted what I think is your best captial B and your best lower case B. Great stuff!😊

April's Calendar Challenge Animal
ANI040-00254 - Joel SartoreYo, what's up! While our calender may be up on the wall at school, fortunately I know what the animal is for April A5. I don't have the exact photo, so I thought I'd put on a couple of cute/fun photos to wet your tastebuds for our next Calendar Challenge.

Due: Monday 10th May

Can you keep a secret? Here is a clue: The photo with the stick might remind you of a book you may have read at school. It is about a certain book character who is one of these animals.

Gareth's Distance Learning, Term 2 Week 1

"I've been keeping busy with handwriting, Matheletics and Reading eggs. Here are some of my activities from last week." Gareth
I have highlighted your best captial H and lower case h, Gareth. I like how your tunnel on your lower case h is evenly shaped and sitting on the line. The tunnel is a good height. There is no confusing your 'h' with and a 'n'! Well done.
Both your H's are nice and tall. I picked the captial H that I did because its width is just right - not too wide.
Good stuff Gareth! From Mrs Forrest x

Charlie's Week 1, Autumn Learning

1. Charlie went on an autumn leaf hunt and then he discussed autumn.
I think he looks like a real explorer!

2. He sorted the leaves into different colours. I love to see autumn leaves sorted in their tones. Stunning! And stunning job Charlie! Here's some statistics - I think I can see some common attributes within the colours. I wonder how the leaves could be sorted futher or in a different way. If you made a graph with the leaves, I wonder how many leaves there would be in each colour and what would be the most and least common colours.
3. He created his own maths problem using groups of 10 leaves and toys he could make = and + signs out of.  The numbers written above in the picture say: 10+10+10+10+10=50 Love your creativity and your mathematical mind Charlie. Here is another way to write the same Maths story: 5 groups of 10 is 50 or 5x10=50. What would 8 groups of 10 be everyone? I think Charlie would know the answer if anyone wants to check theirs.

4. After watching a few of the story clips, Charlie wrote a story about being a leaf.  The top part is his own work with a bit of editing help from Dad. The lower part is his tidier rewrite. How clever of Charlie to rewrite his story. I enjoyed reading it this way because my brain found it easier. It is like running through a field of long grass that's smooth without any logs or dips to trips you - way more fun. 😀 My favourite thing is that you wrote your story from a leaf's perspective. My reader's ears love the sound of "pinky pale" and my brain loves the clear picture the words form.
5. Handwriting I highlighted what I think is your best captial H and best lower case h Charlie. I especially like the control of your strokes on the lower case h. The tall stick is straight and tall, while the tunnel is smooth and just the right height touching the middle of the line. Both of your H's are sitting on the line. Excellent! 👍
