It's Policeman e, watch out vowels!

Policeman e

Policeman e is a rather bossy fellow. He likes to hang around at the end of words. He jumps over the consonant and says to the vowel, 

“Oi you, say your full name!”. The vowel does what they are told. Then Policeman e says nothing more.

In ‘not’ O says its nickname.

Policeman e changes ‘not’ into ‘note’.

We have been talking a lot about respect this term.

Repect means treasuring God, everyone and everything He has made.

If God made it He cares about it. If He cares about it He wants us to care for it. God has given us the special job of being caretakers of his beautiful world.

Respect is treating people as important (because they are!). We are learning one of the best ways to tell someone they are important is by listening to them.

We made a pair of ‘good listening ears’. We hope to turn our real ones into even better listening ears this year. Let us know how we are going when you talk to us!

Huntah's Miracle!

One dark night, someone came and stole Huntah's mum and dad's bikes. That's bad enough but the worst bit is Huntah's mum's bike was her brothers. Huntah's mum felt really upset about that.

Huntah's mum prayed to God about what had happened.

You'll never guess what happened next...

...the next morning the bike Huntah's family was most concerned about came back! It was sitting in the driveway. Have you ever heard of a theif that returns things? Not us. It's amazing, it's a MIRACLE!!!!!!!

GOD HEARS US AND ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS!

He has done miracles in the past. He is still doing miracles now. He will do miracles in the future.

GOD LOVES US. HE EVEN LOVES BADDIES. We pray the thief will find God's love.

Bad luck, Duck's stuck... or is A3?

We have been reading a big book this week called 'Bad Luck Duck'.  Duck is too busy quack, quack, quacking and she falls into a mud puddle.  The sounds we are focussing on this week also just happen to be 'd' and 'qu'.  Handy that ducks go "quack"!

We thought we would see how Duck felt and write about our experience.

First we had to make mud.  Some of our Reading groups have been reading other books about animals and mud so we knew exactly what to do.


Oliver took the plunge first.  He squished and squashed the water and dirt between his toes. 

After a few people wriggled and squelched it wasn't long before we had ooey, gooey, slippery, sloppy, thick, wet, caramel mud...

...and found ourselves ankle deep in the cold gloopy goodness

A Heart Like David's

Our Shanti is beautiful on the inside and out.  She has a real heart for God and just like David in the Bible she has expressed it through song.  Shanti wrote 'Everyday' all by herself using songs her church sings as a model.

In class we have been talking about Matthew 22v39

"The second most important commandment is: "Love others as much as you love yourself."

We read a book the opposite of what we want to do called 'That's mean!' by Pittau & Gervais.  Then we wrote our own books called 'That's kind!' in response.

Our wonderful Awhina went home that night and wrote her own book!  She has inspired others to do the same!

A3 REAL LIFE SUPERHEROES 2015

"Saving the day by the way we are acting and the choices we're making!"

We know the real hero is on the inside.

We have been talking in class about how we can be real life hero's, loving and learning in A3.  Here are some of the ideas we have come up with.

Superhero's...

• Respect everything God made because his creations are valuable!

These are a Real Life Hero's SUPER POWERS! 

People in our class are already standing out with their particular super powers. Some are really good at keeping people safe, others are helpful, others encourage us.  Some are fast - they listen quickly and are on the mat in a flash!  People are being brave, too.  Our superheroes really are saving the day and our learning by the way they are acting and we love our learning because of it.

Check this guy out!

Jonny is the ultimate book maker.  He is always dreaming up amazing story plots and making them happen on paper.  The really fabulous bit is it is all self motivated and self created.

Here is Jonny sharing one of his recent big books 'The Wildebeest', with the class.

Jonny points out and explains one of his little characters.  We should have taken a close up of the left page.  The illustration of the character had so much expression!

He added lots of expression using his voice and his body.  Unfortunately we missed getting the photo of his arms out to emphasis one of his characters saying "No, no, no" on this page.

Jonny shows the signs of a great author because...  he left the class asking for more!

Web of Kindness!

Our school value focus for Term 4 is KINDNESS!

We made a web of kindness with a ball of colourful wool.  We said something kind about someone in the class.  Then while still holding onto the wool, passed the ball to that person.  Before we knew it we had created a web of kind words, a bunch of smiles, warm hearts and a knot in the middle ;).  You can see from our photo we were all feeling pretty good by the end of it!  Kindness sure does make the world brighter.

Our challenge to ourselves is to find 100 ways to be kind.  But we can't just think of ways, we actually have to do them.  We are making a chain of all the ways we have been kind in A3.  Here is a photo of how long it is so far after Week 1!  We are REALLY keen to get it super long.  Our challenge has really made our class a nice place to be :)
